Bye bye summer time....

Lest we forget, this summer was the summer where we could see the light at the end of the tunnel!

Everyone is big enough to draw their own pictures in chalk.... and wear flip flops!

We can actually attend birthday parties now!  (though don't ask us to carry on a conversation!)
We sleep in big beds! (sometimes together!)
We get to go in "Mommy's Car" all by ourselves, but then ask the whole time "where's Mila?"

Is it true?  Is it about to "be fun"?  Can't wait to find out!!!

Poop-scapades!

So, we here in BY universe are definitely poop focused.

Here are some things recently heard:

Mila: gets up from potty chair.  "Woah!  Look at my poops!"
E: looks in- it was like 10lbs and almost the size of Mila!  "Holy moley!"
M:" yeah!"
E:  daddy calls mommy to come look. The whole BY family is then in the bathroom focused on this large Mila deposit!  Applauding!

KP: "daddy, I need you to come with me to potty!"
E:"why?"
KP:"Cause I'm going to have huge poops  and I need you to wipe!"

Coco:  purple face. Grunting
E:"Coco, did you poop?"
C:"no"
E:"Coco, did you poop?"
C:"No"
E:"Coco, did you poop?"
C:"NO!!"
E:"Coco, did you poop?"
C: sheepishly... "yeeeesss!"

Mila:"Daddy, come on!  I've got BIG poops!" Leading me to potty chair...

The Weekend Review

So, this past weekend, Maine and I were both off. So this meant a full BY weekend.

We had our usual waffles on Saturday morning.

Followed by a jaunt to the gym.

Then a trip to fit for fun.

Then lunch and nap time.

Later, since the weather was awesome, we went to the park to play and chase geese.

Whew!

Then on Sunday, we went to the beach!

And eventually found our way to pizza!!!

Whew. What a BY Weekend!!!

Unleashing the Hounds.....

So, we knew that this day would come at some point.  But I guess we were really not prepared for it.  It all happened so fast.

Last Wednesday, we had the dreaded awakening.  The Q heard a weird sound coming from the Twizz room.  She went to investigate, and found the moment we were dreading for months...

But it was Coco.  Straddling the railing between the two cribs.  Like he was riding a horse.  And he had the biggest smile on his face!  ear to ear!  We quickly put him back in bed.

That evening, in bed, we sat there.  Stark realization in our heads.  We knew we were doomed!  We had figured that it would be Mila that would have the gumption.  But it was Coco.  We knew our lives would never be the same

We didn't sleep a wink!

Thursday, we made the decision to take down the crib walls.  We decided to just take off the front.  The other sides were secure to the base.  We made up the cribs like beds... and waited.

That evening we found out.  We unleashed the hounds of hell!

The Twizz thought they had died and gone to Disneyland.  For two hours, they were running around, screaming, jumping, laughing and giggling.  They were not tired at all... ever!  Then it came ~9pm and trying to push bedtime...  That did not go over well.  Both threw fits and screamed and had monster tantrums.  We closed them in their room, but they kept getting up and opening the door.  It was too late in the night to try to switch the locks, so we tried the baby gates to lock them in.  That worked for about 5 secs, until Coco busted them down.

There was no sleep in GM.  (Somehow, through all this we were able to convince KP to go to sleep in her room.... Amazing).  Around 11pm, Coco gave up and passed out.  Mila, however, did not.  Unfortunately, it seems that we were not allowed to either.  About ever hour, she would wake up, scream, get up, and leave her room.  (Which we would see on video monitor)  Then we would hear the pitter-patter of little Mila feet down the hall.  Then we could hear her heavy breathing outside the door, and she would jiggle the handle.  Then she would get scared and run back to her room.  This scenario played itself out every hour that night.  However, she eventually got enough nerve to open the door.  Unfortunately, the closest to her was my side of the bed.... tap-tap-tap... Daddy!!!  I then pick her up and take her to bed.  I am not sure when this finally ended, but the alarm went off pretty early.

However, when we opened our door to go out, we found a little present in the hall.  Mila had fallen asleep outside our door... cuddled in a ball... bootie in the air!

The next day, the Q realized that we can lock the doors from the outside.  Whew!  We're moving on up!  Quiet time however, was not so quiet!  There was an amazing amount of screaming, wailing and gnashing of baby teeth!

Until they passed out!

Sometimes, Mila's screaming was too much for Coco

This success was short lived... the outdoor locking mechanism broke!!!!  This required a little Daddy - MacGyver ingenuity with a screwdriver, bubble gum, and booze!

Wala!  Outside locking mechanism

This has played itself out over the weekend gradually.  Quiettime is still a struggle.  There is screaming and wailing, but it is eventually easing off.

Locking them in surely helps us sleep at night!!!
