The End of A Staple

So, we here at BY Universe rely on a few things to get the house of cards through the day (in no particular order):
  1. coffee in the AM,
  2. daycare
  3. naptime
  4. Moes
  5. Mommy Juice in the PM
  6. Daddy Juice in the PM

Well, it seems that we are slowly losing our grasp on naptime.  Back in the glory days, there used to be 2 naptimes...  Ah yes.  I remember those times.  Over time, we have transitioned to the PM naptime only.  Or, as we now know it, Quiet time!

We for the past 2 weeks, the Kizzles have basically not adhered to our plans.  Those evil masterminds have no plotted amongst themselves to not allow the 2-3hour block to occur.  Most recently it has been the Kizzles.  Pizz can go off to her room, read a little, and eventually collapse.

The Twizzles are a different story.  Those two rugrats (who I am still not sure are completely mine.... Sven you better show up for some daycare!) cannot do it anymore.  I posted a pic, I think last week, of how they trashed their room.  Well, this has not been a sole occurrence.  Every QT attempt is the same.  I am no sure who the accelerant is to the inferno, but wow!  No amount of screaming, pleading, TO, cajoling works.  They are unstoppable.  They cannot be left alone, for fear of destroying something (stay tuned for that post soon).  There is no place to lock them up or get them to stop.

We are screwed!

The video monitor is locked in on their rooms.  We turn on the camera when we hear the evil laughter... you just know something is going on.

Mostly I thought this was all Mila's doing... She the Brain to Coco's Pinky.... but now I am no so sure.  Ever since Mila has moved to OP1, Coco is a new man!  He is liberated; free of her chains.  He is a total uncontrollable boy now, nonstop running and blabbering.  You can see the wheels turning inside his head when you tell him no.  Oh man!

We are in trouble.

Time to move the Juices to the AM!!!!

(Stay tuned)

January Kizzle isms

So one new feature that I have been kicking around, is a post of all the wacky/funny stuff that the Kizzles say.  (Well at least, that I remember to put on my phone)

So each month I will post the ones that I remember.  Here are Decembers:

  • Coco: (as I opened his diaper to find a big #2)"oh my goodness"

  • KP:(trying to sleep one night) "I want a little window in the wall, so I can talk to you guys at night"

  • Coco:(while trying to play Pirates!) "get that booty!"

  • Mila:(In the middle of a Coco and Kemper fighting over her) "I'm everybody's Mila!"

  • Coco: "I'm not a donkadonk!"  (in response to the Editor and the Queen commenting on his ba-donka-donk)

  • Mila (to coco): "you're not a big boy, you have to stay in YP!"

  • KP: (as we walk in to Two Guys to have lunch, and in the loudest voice possible).  "look daddy (pointing to a Miller lite logo) they have your drink here!!"

  • Q:"Hamilton, do you want to play ball with Kemper?"
  • Mila:"Hamilton doesn't have any arms!!!"

I am sure I will have more hilarity in the coming months...

Babyyarnoz New Year's Resolutions

Well, to start, we here at BabyYarnoz are tired... perpetually.  At the end of every day, we are in bed by 9pm.  These 3 are an exhausting business... and somehow this business has not hit the recession.

They keep going and going and going.

Mila is now up in OP1 (which stands for Older Preschool level 1) since she is now potty trained.
Coco is still in YP (Young Preschool) since he is not.
KP is in PreK.

We thought Coco would have a hard time being by himself.  We were wrong.  He is now his own man!  The Master of his Own Domain!  He has been liberated from his controlling sister Mila.  One day, the afternoon teacher told me that she didn't know he talked!  That is how much Mila controlled him.  Now we have heard stories of how she told him where to sit for snack and lunch.  Told him when to sleep.  Told him how to put on his coat.  Answered all his questions!

Whew!  No wonder he is a new man!

But now we are trying to potty train the Dude... and it is a lot harder then the girls.

So, going forward, here are our New Year's Resolutions:
1. Coco: potty training.
2. Mila: Gain weight.  Lose sass.  Learn how to be quiet
3. KP: Lose sass.  Learn how to read
4. Editor: Write more blog entries.  Get a 6 pack... (to drink)...Sleep
5. Queen:  (wait she does it all anyway... )... Sleep.

So look for new blog entries, before I pass out each night.

Happy New Year!

Twizzle Sleepytime

These are actual pictures from tonight's sleepy time.

Have a good night!

Who doesn't love a good Before/After?

It's not quite perfect, and decorating on a shoestring when you've inherited a house full of furniture you didn't pick out is trickier than you think, but here's a flavor of our Beach House reveal:

The living room is the first thing you see when you walk in the door.  It was loaded with pink-flowered drapes (with an ocean hiding behind there), lots and lots and lots of seating, and a fireplace with pink starfish tile and green grout.  And did I mention the walls?

Before: walking in.  You basically saw the back of a white leather sofa
After: walking in

Before: looking down from balcony
After: from balcony

Before: From dining area looking towards stairs

After: from dining area looking towards stairs.  Ignore the former dining room table top in the background leaning against the wall... it's soon to be reincarnated as a playroom table at the Green Machine

I think these photos prove that white paint is the answer to all of life's problems, right?  For those of you who think it's not that great.... for us, a lot of room for Coco us to spread out is key.  And we don't need to all sit on our own couch to do it.  You don't believe me?  Here's the proof - a little Sunday post-beach winddown:

That's the Pizz watching Madagascar, Coco snoozing, Mila-me terrorizing petting Ham, and The Editor doing a puzzle (huh? yep, you heard correctly).

And, for the ultra-curious BY reader, a few of the details about the living room transformation:

  • The walls and trim were both painted my favorite color: Super White (Benjamin Moore)
  • The sofa and love seat were inherited.  As were the end tables, coffee table/trunk, bamboo chair, TV and one lonely plant.
  • The rest of the furniture was either consigned or given away.  We are still getting checks from the consignment shop, which will probably end up funding about 15% of the reno budget we gave ourselves.  Yay!
  • The old shaggy carpet went, and was replaced with Hamilton-friendly recycled-content FLOR tiles.
  • The old accent pillows all received new covers made by yours truly, the DQ2.0/"Dr. Reno" as the editor calls me, after watching a tutorial on YouTube.  He didn't believe I could sew anything.  I showed him!!

More before and afters to come!!
