So, most of you in the BY Universe probably know that The Mila Monster had some Ginormous tonsils. I mean she is 27lbs and about 3of those pounds are in the back of her throat! They were so big that she had sleep apnea!
So this past Wednesday was T-Day. Time to get them out. We'd been prepping her for a month. (you saw the prior post with meds and Jell-O shots!)
So early AM, we got ready. The Queen insisted on making her as cute as physically possible!
Pre-trip
Coco and the Pizz each gave her a special toy for the road, so she wouldn't be scared (Pizz gave her lovey and Coco his blue truck!) So, after I drop off the other two at school, I cruised on over to the outpatient surgery center.
Here we are in pre-area. After check in!
Passing the time!
Finally, they take her back. She was a champ. No tears or fussiness. Whosh and she was gone!
Then we shuffle off nervously to the waiting room for completion. Unfortunately, my phone completely died and there was no place to charge! I mean not an outlet in sight. Where in 2014 does that happen!?! We are in the tech age people! (As an aside, they had this scary looking monitor/BP cuff above Mila's head in the above picture. Looked like it was from 1996 and hadn't been used. Fortunately, it was "Y2K Compliant"!)
So, the Queen is reading her mags, when I am just sitting there with nothing to do. Nothing. I chug 2 cups of free coffee (on top of the 2 that I drunk from home).
Wow...
Literally 20minutes later the ENT comes out and we're done! No problems. She was a trooper. The nurse anesthetist came out later to "warn us" of the devil that our Mila was going to be coming out of anesthesia! Her parting shot to us was "Whew, I got a glimpse of those tonsils when I tubed her! Wow! They needed to come out for sure!!!"
Ha ha ha. our little 27lb sleep apnea girl! And here we thought that Coco had a problem (we took him to the said ENT about a year ago to have his hearing checked.... that might have been another post!)
We make it back to see the MM. Wow! Yup... flashbacks to Pizz' Tubes came crashing back. It was The Exorcist part II. Wild, screaming, crying, thrashing, sleeping, screaming.... and that was just me!
Ha.
We finally got her calmed down and settled in to the recovery area. The nurse informed us that she had another 2hrs to recover...
Whew! I look at my watch. Hey, babe, I gots to get to work!
(it was a really tough day for me!)
Stay Tuned for the next Episode.... The Tonsils Strike Back!!!
